I like the collections more. I rather it not be like a dungeon, where I go through a tedious course, only to get a piece of crap. This time, I get a choice!

Are you suggesting your safety is worth less than the Bonus Mission Pack? Or are you using an unrealistically extreme case to make a broad point?

I don't really have much sympathy for all the people whining and complaining "but I didn't know!" I went out of my way to buy 3 character slots and the Game of the Year upgrades to qualify. I bought GW:EN at my local game store, NOT through the store (boxlover me). Thing was, I had to talk with my debit card creditors AND NCSoft support to make it even possible for me to get through a block on both sides related to "fraudulent activity."

ArenaNet releases top-notch content, always have. The only fault ANet has is sometimes not being complete enough (reused dungeon levels in GW:EN, DoA not available out of the box in NF), or letting some things shortfall in favor of others (Factions PvP was great, sad that the story sucked worse than a vacuum cleaner). They really do try, and I find it sad and hilarious at the same time that people doubt that what ArenaNet releases won't be as good as they can do.

And I do echo the OP's thoughts about the poor folks with tyrannical parents.

People were originally complianing about having to spend money in The online store to get free content. But now they found out it comes with cool weapons so they get spiked by Gaze Of Jealosy. As a result, they offer to PAY for it via the ONLINE STORE for a lot more then it would have cost them to just buy a few character slots, and think that they sound clever.

As far as I am concerned, if Anet decides to not release the BMP seperately that is 100% okay as it is/was a limited time offer and we were constantly reminded of the fact that it was available every time we were at the character login screen. However there are now an overwhelming amount of people that want the BMP (most likely because of the new skins). I see nothing wrong with this reasoning or the fact that people are now QQing about not having it. Honestly, most of the stuff Anet has released as promotional items/extras have been made of fail. It just happens Anet managed to pull the BMP out of who knows where and make some amazing skins that everyone seems to crave. This said, it would be easy for Anet to make it accessible again as a stand-alone in the online store (or maybe in retail stores as well); because no doubt they could make some decent cash off of it.

The long stuff aside, the real question comes down to, should Anet give in and re-release something that everyone knew was a one-time promotional offer? The obvious answer seems like no, however it's Anet so who knows what to expect.

Well I think I that I can rest easy after reading Gaile's response to the Jr. Sparatacus league and their little petition on site. Apparently anyone that didn't get it with the promotion is just SoL because it would cost too much to offer it for sale in the store as a stand alone product. That pretty much quashes both our debates. It's not going to happen everyone who missed out will just have to cry and slit their wrists or maybe burn themselves or whatever it is they do while the rest of us enjoy our goodies. kthxbai.

To everyone else who thinks that whining about it will get you somewhere you may want to read this. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10216946

For the record what do you know Gaile and I agree that offering it as a standalone would defeat the purpose of it being a promotional item. Go figure.

Out of curiosity... can I get the link to that? I'm sure others would like to see it as well.

Beat you to it. I linked it in the other post. read the second quoted block where she enumerates the reasons why they can't and won't offer it as a standalone nor will they offer alternative payment methods above and beyond what they have already offered.

If they tell us sooner that we get those weapons, I am pretty sure the sells will be a lot more higher in their store. If they keep keeping secret they'll lose money for sure, what kind of business skill is that anyway?

Big difference.
although regreting not being able to get something doesnt make 100% sense, it is true.

i couldnt get it for many various reasons, kinda funny how everyone who is complaining to the complainers use the arguement of money issues... there are more issues than that.

the next problem with this online crap is that it seems like its allowing anet to get even more daring in what they can do to get ppl to pay to play... seems like anet is abandoning the little guys like the other mmorpgs ect...i guess they really need the money though...

I'm only wrong if I can be proven wrong. The thing was offered as a promotional item. If you sell it it no longer becomes a promotional item. It also comes with a whole other set of complications that I had not considered apparently. When I say it defeats the purpose and then the community relations person for the company says pretty much the same thing I think that makes me right. Let me check. Yes yes it does. Thank you for playing the debating game. As a consolation prize you get an e-cookie.

First of all I like the idea of not everyone having this bonus pack because it makes my heros stand out.

When this was anouced I brought Gwen online and asked my wife if she would like to do the same. Her response was somthing along the lines it wasnt worth the time to enter the credit card number, but guess who wants it to be sold in store now hahaha.

I dont play games escept for GW and when guild wars came out it was giving to me as a gift. If I had know about the CE with divine aura I wouldve brought it in a second and would do so if it was sold in the online store but I do not expect Anet to sell divine aura.I like the fact that divine aura is uncommon and so should you kids out there inregards to my new heros weapons.

I also live in Australia where we dont have alot of minipet comps or hand outs,so should I ask Anet to sell them online.

I brought Gwen online because I wanted to hand my cash streight to the people that gave me a nice game to play.I dont need to sleep with a box under my pillow or put GW posters up in my games room or what ever some of you do with your box.

You people that didnt, couldnt or wouldnt buy Gwen online to support Anet should stop with the crying and admire my heros weapons.Anyway im off to get some more wepons for my heros.

Sorry But I really disagree on the 3rd reason there, The skins are great are gold colored (as most people want them req9 and inscribable) You pay the price of them being customized to you and cant be sold but the good thing is that you can get all the ones you want, how can people be pissed cause of that?

Alright people, here is the thing.

ANet is a company that allows us play a very very good game online for no subscription fee. But they have to make money in order to keep all the servers running.

Why is it cheaper for them to sell through the in-game store?

To explain a bit how things work in the real world for those of you who only sit in front of your computer.

A lot of products, take shoes, for example go through this process.

A manufacturer makes a pair of shoes for $5
They sell it to a broker for $10. That means the manufacturer makes $5 off of the shoe.
The broker then sells it to a jobber for $15.
The jobber sells to a wholesaler for $20.
The wholesaler sells to a retailer for 25$.
And finally the customer buys it for $30.

So if a shoe manufacturer sells directly to a customer, he will have sold it for $30 and profited $25 instead of selling to a broker and making only $5

That is what ANet is trying to do using the internet and they are rewarding those of us who cooperate. That is why it is called a Bonus.

So for those who refuse to make online purchases, tough luck. Part of making the online purchases is to support ANet. They have been more than generous to GW players and don't get enough appreciation.

If you didn't want to make online purchases but are willing to do it now because of the awesome new skins, tough luck.

It's obvious. The same people who don't have the mission pack are the same people who refuse to buy through the ingame store. The purpose of the pack is to promote the ingame store.

They profit a lot more when you buy through the ingame store and are willing to give a free bonus because the cost of making the bonus will be covered by the extra money in the ingame store.

Whereas money will be lost by selling retail and giving the free bonus mission.

Doesn't mean that they are being cheap. They are just trying to keep an expensive server running for an online game that has no subscription fee.
